Couple of tips
- Buying a local sim might not always work as some countries have strict regulations regarding getting SIM. Some requires ID proof with photo.
-But in EU Countries and in most other countries you can buy a SIM off the street
- Also getting worldwide SIM is costly. There are hidden charges in most cases.
- Callcheaper.co.uk. Its an amazing service to call overseas from UK. 5p connection charges applies though.But then this is one of the best services i have used. If you are in UK, you can buy o2 with Favorite place.On a 10 Pound top up you will get 500 Local minutes free. Use this to call the access numbers free of cost.
-And to text the best paid option would be fishtext.com . You get to text so many countries for a pence.And to text within UK would be 2p.
And you can send the credit from any mobile to it. Like in my case i get so much unused credit on o2. You can use the unused credit to top up your account. I strongly recommend thier service
-Texting free? You should try ifreesms.co.uk . But then most of the times thier server is down(I just checked it now and as usual its down.Also i was banned from its Shoutbox for asking why it resembles another site very closely in design.And that happened twice).Hence not recommended at all.
-glocaltalk.com offers free calls in lieu of your unused texts. I havent used the servie hence no further comments on it
-And of course, who can forget Skype. I dont think i need to explain it further at all. But one thing i have noticed while calling to India when i was in my college is that if you are on WiFi Connection(Poor) , then audio and video seems to get lost or meddled up. But when i tried it from another good connection it was all right and good.
And if you are serious about using Skype, and if you are in UK, you should buy 3 Mobile. Though in some areas their connection is poor.So check that first.Checking it on their site is no good.Just buy a SIM and put it on and see.
-Poketalk is a site you must check out. I haven't used the service and hence no comment
